Composed of 60 musicians from Jacksonville and the First Coast area.

Led by conductor Artie Clifton.

Celebrating their 23rd season of offering free quality concerts to public.

Performed at the 1995 National Convention of the Association of Concert Bands

Performed at the 1998 Southern Convention of the College Band Directors National Association.

Performs the newest literature for wind ensemble.

Also maintaining a link to the classics that have sustained wind ensembles and concert bands throughout history.

Opening concert took place on Oct. 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in Terry Concert Hall at JU

The program featured noted jazz musician Bill Price.

Price performed his own arrangements of popular sections from the Big Band era.

Music included Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Stan Kenton and others.

Included wind band selections: “Maria, Mari” by Eduardo di Capua” “Danzón No.2” by Arturo Márquez and “El Camino Real” by Alfred Reed.

Premiere of new the piece “New Horizons,” a work written especially for the First Coast Wind Ensemble by Bill Boston.

Boston is a JU graduate and has had a successful career in the film industry.

Artie Clifton, one of JU’s own faculty members was the conductor for the night’s event.
