Fundraising for France Trip Sets Sail

On Oct. 14, The Bottom Line, a recently refurbished 80 ft. yacht will be setting sail on a mission to raise money for the Jacksonville University choir to go to France in May. This trip is not choir exclusive; however, the main purpose is for the choir to travel around France performing in cathedrals. They will be traveling around Paris and Nantes singing for diplomats in such venues as the Notre Dame. It will be a good opportunity to expose both the students and the JU community as a whole.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of this cruise are to go towards the tour. The fundraiser has a generous benefactor in the guise of William Mahoney, of Mahoney & Associates, who has donated the money for all of the expenses making it possible for all attendees’ donations to go straight towards the trip for the choir.

There are 35 spots available on the yacht for $125 per person. If they can fill the boat, more than $4,000 will be put towards their cause. Amenities include unlimited drinks at an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and live performances from students in the music department. All must be aboard by 3:45 p.m. on that Sunday, and the yacht will begin its two- hour cruise down the St. Johns at 4:00 p.m. starting from the Epping Yacht Club. Attire is “Florida casual.”
