The JU Mens lacrosse team opened the weekend lacrosse festivities with a thrilling 9-8 overtime victory over Michigan.

They fell behind early 3-0 to the Wolverines who came out fired up. The Dolphins roared back throughout the game, taking it to OT.

“Early on we did not match their intensity,” said JU Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale.

The team was led by Ari Waffle and Cameron Mann who also hooked up to convert the game winning goal.

“The guys look to me to lead and its good they could jump on my back and get the win,” said Mann.

“If it were not for Cam, we would not have won the game, “said Van Arsdale.

Later on in the weekend, the Dolphins faced Holy Cross at D.B.Milne Field. They would not have similar luck as they did against Michigan. They fell behind early and remained behind the whole game.

JU at one point was able to take the score from 12-7 to 12-11 but would get no closer. Holy Cross iced the game by playing keep away for about 3 minutes then scoring with 1:50 to play.

“We were just to uneven mentally in our game, intensity wise and effort wise,” said Van Arsdale.

TJ Kenary and Conor Igoe both had hat tricks on the day. The Dolphins next game is Saturday VS Mercer at 1p.m. at D.B. Milne Field.
