JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Monday March 8th, Jacksonville University’s Athletic Department released a statement announcing the official departure with the men’s basketball team Head Coach Tony Jasick.
In the statement released on JU’s Athletic website, Senior Vice President and Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert stated that he wanted to thank Jasick for what he has done for the program.
“First I want to thank Tony for his many years of service to this program, these young men and to this University,” Ricker-Gilbert said. “While the results on the floor in the recent past have been disappointing, I remain as excited as ever about the bright future of this program. What we have in front of us is an opportunity to embrace our role as Jacksonville’s University, to build upon the strong foundation of our rich basketball history.”
While at JU for the past seven seasons, Jasick had posted a 95-122 overall record which includes a 42-60 record in ASUN play. This past season the men’s program held an overall record of 11-13 and a 5-9 record in ASUN play. Unfortunately, the team was not able to compete in the 2021 ASUN Championship because of COVID-19 precautionary protocols.
According to the statement, “a national search for the program’s 17th head coach, with Dr. Richard Sander of TopConnect serving in an advisory role, will begin immediately.”
