The women’s basketball team has been on a winning streak. It has been more than a month since they lost a game, winning five conference games in a row. This includes wins over Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, NJIT, USC Upstate, and North Florida.
The conference victory over UNF was won by 65-51 in a very up and down game. Sherranda Reddick scored the most points for JU with 23. Briona Brown contributed 12 points for the team and 11 points were from Brandi Buie.
Not only has the team been dominating in conference play, but they also secured their spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference final game. A tournament victory over Lipscomb on March 4 propelled the team to the tournament semi-final round against USC Upstate.
After defeating USC Upstate 67-56, the team is now scheduled to play in the conference championship game. Brown scored the most points, 19, for the Dolphins. The two teams stayed neck and neck until JU outscored USC Upstate 19-8 in the second quarter.
The Dolphins will play for the championship at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 away against the number one seed, Florida Gulf Coast University. FGCU will host the game. Visit JUDolpins.com for more details.
