One Spark Is Upon Us

A Vote for River City Recordings, Is a Vote for Sports

If you’ve been living in Jacksonville consistently for the last couple of years, then I’m sure that you are aware of the world’s largest crowdfunding festival named One Spark. One Spark takes place over a week-long period and features project creators from categories ranging from art to technology, from science to music.

The festival, which takes place throughout downtown Jacksonville, is meant to help start-up companies get the funding they need to bring their vision and or product to the consumer. Companies from all over the country come to Jacksonville for One Spark in hopes of winning start up money, but more importantly, in hopes of reaching the consumer.

Those companies are all wasting their time because the best idea in this year’s One Spark festival has been in Jacksonville for eight months now.

As a reader of this column you are aware that I have served as the sports editor for “The Navigator” this past academic school year. You are also aware of my love for not only the Jacksonville Jaguars, but for all sports. I’ve remained true to the Jags this past year in my column, but I have also displayed that I just love sports in general, especially if the sport exists in the Jacksonville market.

What many of you don’t know is that, in this past year, I have worked with my partners at River City Recordings (#21954, One Spark voting number) to provide the local Jacksonville market with premiere sports talk. We have worked our tails off to provide sports fans with sports talk that the everyday fan can relate to.

We’ve reviewed film from Jags games, interviewed former players, future NFL players and writers from different markets as well as employees from the Jags front office all in the name of bringing you, the Jacksonville sports fan, the best coverage of the teams that you love, because we love them too. We consider ourselves the best kept secret in sports talk and we want to bring our vision to you, which is why we have signed up for One Spark (#21954 is our creator number) and why I’m asking for your vote.

We have plans of revolutionizing the way you listen to sports talk and we feel that you will fall in love with our idea, just as my partners and I have as we’ve watched it blossom into what it has become today.

Our goal is to one day release our sports talk model from the nest and watch it as it flies from one market to another, changing the way sports fans listen to sports talk of their favorite teams. We hope to not only change the method in which you listen to sports talk, but we also hope to change the accessibility of your sports talk, moving away from your radio dial and into your cell phone.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “How do I cast my vote for River City Recordings?” Well,it’s easier than searching for dorm room cleaning supplies at the end of the semester on Google.

In order to vote, you must be in downtown Jacksonville and you must have a registered voting account. There is a mobile app that is free on iTunes and Google Play Store which makes voting easy for all ages. Once you’ve registered your device and are downtown, your next move should be to cast your vote for River City Recordings whose creator number, which I’ve hinted at twice already, is #21954. This not only casts a vote for River City Recordings, but it casts a vote for sports fans all across the world.

I’m sure the question you’re asking yourself now is, “How do I get to downtown from campus?” This is easier than registering. There is a river taxi that leaves from the Gentry Floating Docks behind the Negaard Rowing Center and takes you directly downtown. The taxi runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on April 10 and 11, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on April 12. What makes it even better is that it’s free!

The experience is amazing, voting is easy and transportation is free. What excuse do you really have for not coming to One Spark and casting a vote for sports fans everywhere?

I’ll see you downtown!
