Man Convicted in Deaths of American Sniper Author, Friend

Eddie Ray Routh, former Marine, was convicted Tuesday in the deaths of the American Sniper author Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield at a shooting range two years ago, according to a Feb. 24 Associated Press article. Jurors rejected defense arguments that he was insane and suffered from psychosis. The 27-year-old received an automatic life sentence without parole in the deaths of Kyle and Littlefield.

Jacksonville’s Tyanna Jones will sing for votes on Thursday’s “American Idol”

Tyanna Jones, 16-year-old junior at Westside High School, made it to the Top 24 on the Fox series American Idol after singing Beyonce’s “Love on Top.” Jones will perform on Thursday’s episode at 8 p.m. with the Top 12 female contestants for viewers’ votes.

Marijuana is Now Legal in Alaska 

Alaska will be the third state to legalize marijuana, after Colorado and Washington. Alaska’s voter initiative to make marijuana legal takes effect Tuesday, according to a Feb. 24 NPR article. The new law will allow people over the age of 21 to consume small amounts of pot if they can find it. It’s still illegal to sell marijuana.
