Dolphins Blow Past Old Dominion 14-4


The women’s lacrosse team jumped back into action at D.B. Milne Field against Old Dominion this past weekend, notching a 14-4 win.
The Dolphins picked up the pace of play in the second half, propelling them to the victory.
Junior Morgan Derner led the offense with three goals and an assist. Derner was joined by fellow junior Brittney Orashen who also got three goals past the Monarchs’s goalkeeper as JU outscored Old Dominion 10-2 in the second half of play.
The Dolphins had seven different goal scorers on the day.
Old Dominion jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but junior Nikki Erdely scored quick back-to-back goals putting JU up 2-1. Orashen scored two of her three towards the end of the first, giving the Dolphins a 4-2 halftime lead.
Derner netted all three of her goals in a 10-minute span in the second half as JU pulled away scoring five straight goals before the Monarchs got two more of their own. JU then ended the game scoring five straight goals.
Next up for the Dolphins, Friday’s game against William & Mary at 3:30 p.m., at D.B. Milne Field.
