The Jacksonville University men’s basketball team went to battle with the University of North Florida Ospreys at UNF this past Friday in the first installment of this season’s Sun Trust River City Rumble.
The Dolphins (10-10, 5-2) fought their way to a 77-68 victory after a back and forth match-up all night. The final score didn’t express how close the outcome really was.

JU posted a season-best 60.9 percent shooting from the field in the second half, the best mark for the Dolphins all season.
Junior Javon Dawson paced the Dolphin scoring attack with 17 points while shooting 7-10 from the field. Powell led the team in rebounds with eight and three blocked shots.

With around eight minutes left to play, McDougald netted two game-tying free throws. Less then a minute later, senior guard Russell Powell drained a three-pointer giving the Dolphins a 59-56 lead, a lead they were not willing to give up.
